OPERATION TULI 2016 RESPONDS TO F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

"Operation Tuli" has been an annual community service of Model Lodge No. 373 since 2010 for its host community of Baloc in the Municipality of Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija.

In 2014, the Lodge shifted its priority on the well-being of its members and delegated its charity projects to Model Court, including "Operation Tuli", who then invited the Munoz Bodies of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rites to be a partner.

Since then, "Operation Tuli" has been a Model Lodge-Model Court-Munoz Bodies collaboration but for the 2016 edition, Model Court actively sought possible partnerships with non-Masonic organizations in line with the FRIENDS program of the current Amaranthine year and readily accepted an invitation from Team 40, an alumni association of the Nueva Ecija High School, to jointly implement "Operation Tuli" with Model Lodge in Cabanatuan City for the benefit of young boys from urban poor families within the vicinity of Brgy. Sta. Arcadia.

And so it was that 26 boys walked in and went out as young men on the day that SK Virgilio and HL Mary Grace Santos graciously hosted "Operation Tuli V" right in their residence, and Model Court responded to the Amaranthine Year's thrust to "Resonate the Image and Values of the Order to Masonic and Non-Masonic Organizations".

A YEAR-LONG DIABETES AWARENESS PROGRAM

Model Court's Year-Long Diabetes Awareness Program was launched in 2014 as the "Dugo Mo, Babantayan Ko" project in partnership with Model Lodge No. 373.

The primary clients were members of Model Lodge and the main purpose was to conduct a monthly monitoring of their blood sugar levels and therefore inform their lifestyle choices.

Now on its third year, several innovations were introduced to transform the project from a rote FBS sampling exercise into a scientific and programmatic wellness program by [1] ensuring the sustained participation of the target beneficiaries through a lock-in a formal registration and tracking mechanism; [2] profiling of FBS samples at the beginning, middle, and conclusion of the project calendar to enable effective monitoring; [3] tapping the services of professional services providers in extracting blood samples and interpreting the results to enhance the credibility of the project; and [4] the development of a blood sugar reduction protocol that is informed by the results of the blood profiling cycles.

On 07 May 2016, Model Court launched its new and improved Year-Long Diabetes Awareness Program, not just for the members of Model Lodge but the Court's too and their immediate family members where the first 51 enrollees signed up.

No less than District Deputy Grand Master Alfredo Soriano of Southern Nueva Ecija and Aurora was on hand to witness the launching of the project which also has the pledged support of brother Masons from the Cabanatuan City MV Gallego General Hospital, the Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, and the incoming District Deputy Grand Royal Matron and Patron of District V --- HL Preciline Andaya and SK Irineo Dones (MD).

Definitely, Model Court's Diabetes Awareness Program will be a way of life and it will be more interesting and relevant this year and for the years to come.
